Most chairs were not designed for the human spine — the Orthorest Seat & Back Cushion corrects that, adding orthopedic lumbar support and pressure-relieving seat cushioning to any office chair, dining chair or car seat you already own.
- ✔Dual-zone orthopedic design — the seat cushion and lumbar back support work together as a system; the seat relieves coccyx and sit-bone pressure while the lumbar pad maintains the natural inward curve of the lower spine simultaneously
- ✔Memory foam seat cushion — the high-density memory foam seat distributes body weight evenly across the sit bones, eliminating the concentrated tailbone pressure that causes numbness, discomfort and sacral pain during long sitting periods
- ✔Contoured lumbar back support — the lumbar pad is shaped to follow the natural lordotic curve of the lower spine; positions L3–L5 vertebrae correctly to reduce the disc compression that causes lower back fatigue and chronic pain in desk workers
- ✔Non-slip base on both pieces — rubberised non-slip bases keep both the seat cushion and lumbar pad exactly in position on the chair; no sliding, no repositioning, no distraction during work
- ✔Adjustable lumbar strap — the lumbar support attaches to the chair back with an adjustable strap; positions the pad at the correct height for your spine length; fits most office chairs, dining chairs and car seats
- ✔Breathable mesh covers — both cushions are covered in breathable mesh that prevents heat and moisture buildup during extended sitting; no overheating in Australian summer office conditions
- ✔Removable, washable covers — covers zip off and machine wash cold; air dry in 2–3 hours; maintains hygiene through extended daily use without replacing the cushion
Will it fit my office chair?
Yes. The seat cushion is sized to fit standard office chair seats (40–50cm wide). The lumbar support attaches via an adjustable strap that fits chair backs from 38cm to 55cm wide. Both pieces work on dining chairs, mesh office chairs, padded executive chairs and most car seats. The non-slip bases hold position on fabric, leather and mesh surfaces. If you have an unusual chair shape, contact our team before ordering.
Is it suitable for coccyx (tailbone) pain?
Yes. The seat cushion has a U-shaped cutout at the rear that suspends the coccyx in open air, eliminating direct contact pressure on the tailbone. This is the standard therapeutic approach for coccydynia (tailbone pain), post-fall bruising and post-partum coccyx soreness. 97% of customers said lower back pain was reduced — many specifically noted the tailbone relief as the most immediate benefit from day one.
Can I use it in my car?
Yes. Both pieces work in car seats. The seat cushion sits on the car seat surface and the lumbar support attaches to the headrest or seatback struts. Many customers use the Orthorest set specifically for long drives to eliminate the lower back fatigue and tailbone discomfort that accumulates over hours of driving. The non-slip base holds position through acceleration and cornering on most car seat materials.
How does it help with lower back pain?
Most chairs have a flat or slightly reclined back surface that allows the lower spine to flatten and the pelvis to posteriorly tilt during prolonged sitting. This collapses the natural lumbar lordosis and compresses the L4–L5 and L5–S1 discs, causing the familiar end-of-workday lower back ache. The contoured lumbar pad restores the inward curve and keeps the spine in its natural position throughout the sitting period, removing the source of that pain.
How long before I notice a difference?
Most customers notice reduced pressure and discomfort from the first day of use. The seat cushion relief is immediate — the tailbone pressure difference is perceptible within minutes of sitting down. The lower back benefit typically becomes fully apparent after 3–5 days of consistent daily use as the back muscles adjust to being supported correctly. 97% of customers confirmed noticeable pain reduction within the first week.
